I also grow palms trees outdoors in Williamsburg, VA. (zone 7b) There are several species that will grow in this climate, and others are a challenge. The first website that I created (in 1996) gave information about growing these trees in temperate climates. That site is called Growing Hardy Palms. Be gentle - it still looks like a 1996 site.

I am beginning to grow some on Colington Island, NC in zone 8b (or maybe really 8a). Maybe I won't kill as many.
